Clarke say Jose Enrique ready for Spain

Jose Enrique made no secret of the fact that his decision to join Liverpool from Newcastle in the summer was influenced by an ambition to play for his country. And the... Spanish left-back has made such a strong start to life at Anfield that Reds coach Steve Clarke believes that if the 25-year-old keeps on turning in the performances he has already delivered, then international recognition cannot be far away. "As an ex-full-back myself, I can appreciate the work he's doing for the team - both in attack and defence," Clarke told Liverpool's official website.

Clarke is confident that Liverpool fans con look forward to even more to come from Enrique, who has impressed the coaching staff with his professional attitude, and what he brings to the squad off the pitch, equally as much as on it. "It's typical of his character," he continued. "Since he came here, we've been impressed by the way he's gone about his business day-to-day in training, and I think that is when you get to know your players best - by working with them every day. "He wants to improve. I know he is desperate to be part of the Spanish squad in future and if he continues the work he's doing, manages to improve and then I am sure he will make the squad, no problem."
